BROWN BETTY, ? - 2008
We note with sadness the untimely death of Brown Betty, an off-track thoroughbred ridden and trained to the three-star level by her owner Oliver King. Betty and Oliver were the inspiration of many amateur event riders, as they went up the levels from training level to the highest advanced level amateur riding pair in the country. They were top 15 at Red Hills CIC in 2006 and several other years were champion in the nation or close to it at intermediate and advanced levels. Betty was retired to broodmare status and gave owners Barbara Cohen-King and Oliver two great young horses that are in their barn, Bettina Star (4yo mare) and Bruno, a colt foal of this year. (Barbara rode in the T3D, 2007, and finished in 7th place on her horse, Zeke). Rest in peace, Betty.
